Reclaiming overpaid income tax at end of tax year

Hi

The previous year I was working two jobs to save up for some travelling, as a result I paid a high rate of tax, but didn't earn enough to reach the minimum allowance of about £9,000. So I'm expecting a big rebate in April! I'm currently travelling at the moment and return just before April, where I will be flat broke. Last year I was in the same situation and after a lot of phone calls and exchanging documents I finally received my rebate in SEPTEMBER!!!

I really need this money asap when I get back so does anyone have any tips on dealing with HMRC to get my rebate as soon as possible?

Thanks in advance
Dom
