I just asked about this at my jobcentre, where what I was told is fact or not I do not know.
I was told that is the interview is further than your search area/travel time then they will pay it, I was told I have to search for jobs within 1 hour 30 minutes of home, any interviews within this area I have to pay travel for, not sure why the 1 hour 30 min rule? just because it's within search area doesn't make it affordable.
If on the work program tho, they should pay for it, as mine have said they will refund me, so I was lucky there.0 -
I had this last November... they hold a budget for interview costs but exercise discretion. At first they agreed, but when I told them that my interview would cost more than five hundred pounds they backed out.
(No: the interview was not in the Caribbean, although you could get there for less than that. The fare was for a return journey between Aberdeen and Exeter.)0 -
The discretionary fund is administered locally so only your local office can give you a definitive answer. However most work along the guidelines explained by sniggings.0

My JC have told me they will pay for any job interviews (not agency ones) if you let them know in advance and have to book an apt to see the advisor to get it.We’ve had to remove your signature. I took in to my job centre all train tickets for an interview in October, they gave me full reimbursement, into my bank account, the following day, so it is worth asking, keep all tickets as they will not give any refunds if you cannot produce evidence. Good luck to you!0
