Hi,
I am currently on SMP til 30th Dec and recently registered online for deliveries like yellow pages, BT phone book etc. This morning I have had a message left on my phone saying they have a delivery in my area and to call back. Does anyone know if this is cash in hand work or whether they notify any1 as i dont want to lose my SMP for £90 of extra work. Obviously the £90 would come in handy as I am not doing anything but dont want to risk it.
Thanks in advance, s x

All you can do is call back and ask the company what their payment terms are. If you don't ask you don't know, and you won't loose anything for asking!
Be careful though as you would lose SMP for any week in which you undertake paid work, and if there's the slightest chance of that happening I would question whether it was worth it.0 -
You can't do any work at all when you are on maternity pay, without it affecting your benefit.
If it's "cash in hand" and you don't declare it for both tax and SMP purposes, it would be classed as fraud. It's not a risk I would take for the sake of £90.
If they are taking you on as a self employed person, they may pass your details onto the Inland Revenue. Some companies I work for on a self employed basis do this. Here I go again on my own....0
