Cheapest country for Platinum rings?? (combined with cheap holiday!)

Hello,

My fiance and I got engadged in Dubai and i bought her the engadgement ring over there and saved so much it was like a free holiday. Looking ahead we are now thinking about getting our rings for the wedding (2 plain platinum bands) but we wondered again if it might be possible to have a cheap holiday closer to home and have this funded by the savings in the rings we buy while we are there?

I did hear Italy was cheap for precious metals? Obviously cheap easyjet flights make it a possibility but what i need to know is where the cheapest places for platinum rings are as a starting point!

Thanks in advance

Henry

  • Cheers for the Dubai tip as it happens Mr C's dad is emigrating in September so if we go out at xmas we may try and get our wedding rings there.

Fraid I don't know of cheap rings closer to home- I can only think of South Africa!

Call me stupid but you could just spend a bit less on the rings? ;) Rings (even platinum ones) vary a lot in price and to be honest will you be able to tell the difference between a £500 and £2000 plain platinum band?

Try Hatton Gardens.... a trip into central London will be less than flying abroad and you can haggle with them to get prices down...Hope this helps.

Dort forget about the different hardness of the metals. If you are getting platinum rings what is the engagment ring? is it 18K gold? of so the platinum will wear out gold, over enough time.

How about Hatton Garden in London, we were able to haggle down the price of our rings as there were so many jewellers. We paid £750 for 2 plat bands. When we got back to bristol, they were £800 just for OH ring! Also free engraving!
Best wins: Trip to Jack Daniels Distillery, Holiday to Turkey, Holiday to Scotland, SATC necklace! Holiday to Ibiza, £500 Tea set. £1500 black diamond ring, £1000 office in a box, £5000 camping equipment, £2000 golden balls cash!
