I'm on my way from budget to electric Ireland, and I have decided to move my mum as well, budget's customer service is non existant, I have been waiting a week for a call back, and had been promised that someone would call me last thurs.. So will be interesting to see how long the credit takes when we leave...

As far as I understand (and I may be wrong), they only offer PayPoint and telephone topups, no online facility available.

  • I got a call from Budget today saying they were sorry I had decided to switch and asking for my reasons. The guy said something that I think is simply untrue but I didn't care enough to argue with him - he said that the rates Electric Ireland were charging were introductory rates and that they will go up. I think he is confused with Airtricity. Has anyone else been told this?

I'm thinking of changing to electric Ireland but the no one line facility puts me off.

Although there is no minimum contract so could just move back to budget.

For non-keypads, Power NI's online option seemed to be just as cheap as airtricity and budget the last time I looked

There's no doubt thet EI's rates will change at some point, the question is when and by how much.

When I switched from Budget to EI, Budget phoned me and told me that the EI tariffs didn't include VAT (which they patently did). Whether this was a deliberate attempt to mislead or was an error I don't know but these calls are simply their attempt to discourage you from switching.
