For freezing soups, sauces and casseroles I use ziplock bags. Then I can store them flat in the drawers and can fit more in.
I use the sauce tubs from Waitrose to store smaller bits in the fridge (and dog treats).
I also use the takeaway style tubs for various bits and pieces, and usually buy them in the local 99p shop. For work, I use the metal ones as we don't have a microwave, only an oven.0 -
Another vote for labelling with masking tape, good for markers but also writing in biro if there's not one to hand (always, then). I freeze a lot of portions of meat in clingfilm, ziplock bags for the rest0

Kellys icecream in one litre tubs are very strong
I remember when all 2 litre icecream containers lasted for ages now they barely last being used once0 -
I try to avoid plastic like the plague, it's very unhealth stuff as a whole and even the stuff that is claimed to be food safe, I don't trust. The little that is currently known about it such as being hormone mimicers raising cancer risk, lowering sperm counts etc etc it's just not a risk I will take.
Glass is fine, stainless steel without high salt foods, silicon but it does seem to attract mould+fungi like glue.0 -
Thanks for all the ideas, some good advice here - as always!!

We use guess what it is boxes, from the chinese takeaway. Never marked, you have to be brave to taste!0

Chinese takeaways around here usually come in handy reusable plastic tubs with lids. Good enough for putting a portion of food in or a sandwich.
Although not very money saving buying chinese takeaways.0 -
I go through a tub of Aldi's frozen summer fruits weekly and the containers are too good to throw away but, unfortunately, they don't come with a lid so I cover with tin foil when freezing in them. They are the perfect size for freezing individual portions of soup and casserole. I wouldn't risk heating them in the microwave though, not sure they would withstand that."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Thanks for the tip about using permanent markers - I've been using non-permanent so that I can wash it off. But the masking tape tip sounds great as I have loads in the drawer.
I froze some mince in freezer bags this week and it has frozen itself around the bars of the shelf! Not sure how to unwrap it without taking the whole shelf out to defrost - and I have two lots it has happened to because i bought a large pack and split it!May spend - £291.40/£320.00
June spend - £106.40/£320.000 -
The large plastic screw top bottles that fruit comes in are Great for soup.0
