I apologise if there is already a thread on here about this but I didn't no where to start searching
Does anyone have any recipes for cleaning products, washing powder, soaps etc that you can make at home? Looking to get everything green and as chemical free as possible in our house and also have something to take up some of my free time now
Thanks,
Sxx

various threads on here about making laundry products, etc.
my tip is to buy stardrops - its a truly 'all purpose' cleaner. will do washing up, carpet and upholstery cleaning, cleans melamine, hard flooring and I have used it for handwashing clothes.
for stubborn marks on hard surfaces though I use magic sponges from the pound shop.0 -
Hi, I use Zoflora personally. Unfortunately everything is 'a chemical' it just depends on how safe you consider it to be.
I think a few people on here use bi-carb and vinegar, although I don't know exactly what for. I guess anyone who does use this will be along soon.
Again, used properly, although a chemical, they are both quite safe, but you would want to drink either.
I've used Ecover or whatever its called from Tesco before which is supposed to be a safe alternative, although I've never investigated this. Its expensive and doesn't work in my opinion.
You might get on better with it though, if its what you want to use.0 -
Hi..i make my own cleaner..for the kitchen and bathroom..
equal parts of washing up liquid and white vinegar plus one tablespoon of either fabric conditioner or liquid laundry ..plus a few drops of essential oil..put all in a spray bottle and bingo..

Astonish are pretty good, and cheap - they're usually about £1 a bottle and last ages.
I use Surcare washing powder. The huge box is £4.25 and I use a small scoop (one of those 25ml ones) for each wash so it lasts ages.
I honestly don't think it works out any cheaper to make your own.0 -
As an anti bac spray for around the house I use an empty spray bottle a squirt of washing up liquid and a capful of anti bac disinfectant then fill with water, it's cheap cheap cheap!!!
I've used this now for around 5 years and I wouldn't buy surface sprays again, and it's good enough for the bathroom too, I've got two boys so I'd spend a fortune on buying it if I did.
Laundry I just buy value bilogical liquid it's cheap an does the job.
You could make laundry gloop? There is a thread somewhere on it.
You can use vinegar as a softner it's also a deodoriser.
Hand wash at the mo we are using leftover shower, shampoo and bubble bath we aren't keen on and re filling the dispenser to get rid of them.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

White Vinegar[V] and Hydrogen Peroxide[HP] is meant to be the ultimate anti bacterial product. Two small pump spray bottles, spray [V] and then [HP]. However I prefer not to be anti bacterial because it's counter productive. Listening to the media is a fools game with them attempting to demonise all bugs.
I'm all for using more natural products because they are much less harmful to everything and cost very little. Stock up on Sodium Bicarb and white vinegar and you would be surprised how versatile they are and how little they cost. Borax when you need anti fungal properties.0
