When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.:money:
Morning
Eurgggh Monday morning, not feeling so up for it today! The weather is miserable, I have come down with a cold and feel rough, oh is getting on my last nerve and I have a whole week of work to go but am being roped into doing a project that is nothing to do with me 2 days this week. Need to speak to my boss and ask her to let me not be involved. I've done so much for the project over the last 2 months and now all my own work is behind
grumble grumble grumble!
Anyway time to be positive!
* checked banking
* transferred dd's money into her account
* asked dd to sort out getting her money put in her own account from now on
* all meals from stores
* chicken out of freezer for dinner tonight
* make note of mileage and submit expenses tonight. Didn't do this on Friday
* work very efficiently - I feel like I am drowning in things I haven't done yet!
* paint radiator
* sewing after work
* NSD
That's all I need to do today
Happy days guys, happy days! x

I see that everyone checks the bank each day - thats something i don't do as i don't like to see the results

But for any new readers on here you do pick up some good tips each day.0 -
I am over whelmed with the washing, dusting, vacuuming and general tidy up.
Visitors gone to the airport today - sad to see them go.
the decorations have been down a few days but I am still finding the odd thing to add to the store boxes.
Todays money finds - £3 lunchen vouchers in post that came and got hid in a corner.
Tesco coupons I can use with the shopping
I have several survey vouchers waiting for me to cash in.
Recieved an Amazon £10 voucher yesterday.
I am collecting biscuits, chocolates and other sweets. I now have a stash!
This seems to happen in recent years. Should last a wile along with the 2 rows of bubble bath.
craft = knitting cardigan.
To do = check post code lottery
empty bins as we have to put them out tonight for early bird emptying.
continue vacuuming and dusting away the fairy dust.
Discourage little dogs new trick! This morning first she nicked some bacon off the counter. Then when i went to the fridge she nicked x2 slices of bread from counter. family joked = she wanted to make a sandwich too!
Find new hanging places for calendars = we have 6 this year. All given.
Oh! in the last few days I have had cash back from Quidco and snap back.
Sending good, positive wishes to anyone who has had the floods.
The 6th day of the new year. Hears to spending less than last year, it is a never ending battle for us all.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -

This is a MUST if you want to be DF! As you get further on the journey checking your bank becomes exciting
My things for today:
1. BLD and snacks from stores
2. Research locations for Sun perks holiday for when booking opens on Sunday.
3. Chase DSs birthday entertainment for confirmation
4. Read at lunchtime to avoid spending and the horrible weather!
5. Adpoints, postcodelottery etc.
I think that's all for me today. Happy DFW days all x0 -
Hi everyone, It's certainly blue monday today isn't it. Thanks for all the inspiration about what DFW stuff you do daily, I'm going to start trying to sort out routines.
1. Check banking and review budget
2. Pick up currency from Sainsburys - best rate closest to me
3. Do banking in town
4. Enter some competitions
5. Pack sensibly for Paris tomorrow so that we can walk to hotel
6. Eat from what is in stores
We are off to Paris on the earliest train in the morning and will be budgeting with avengeance. I have my 2for1 ticket for the Musee d'Orsay and I have changed my currency at the best rate I can find already - usually I change it at the gate because I just don't have time to think ahead. Pah! Of course I have time to think about it. All I've done is sat watching tv and had a look on the internet and pre-ordered it via this magical site.
So have a fantastic day everyone, enjoy a very MSE day xDFD - 26th March 2014 :j0 -
Afternoon Monday People,
Trying to get back to usual routines today as mr f has gone back to work.
Today's small money saving things:
*Did laundry overnight on Economy 7 tariff. Re-loaded washer for another cheap load tonight.
*Hung everything on heated airer ready to switch on tonight.
*Remembered to charge phone before tariffs swapped over too.
*Shared bath water.
*Free fitness. Did my new exercise DVD (£3 in the sale). Not too difficult but after 2 months off, I'm feeling a bit creaky :-)
*Dismantled outside Christmas decorations & packed them away in the shed. I had never made a door wreath before but it stayed up all Christmas despite the gales, so took it apart & saved the inner ring to make one next year.
*Did a bit more knitting. (a very colourful double-sided scarf-for myself this time after all the presents I knitted for other people)
Still to do:
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch
*Do rubber chicken. Aiming for 3 more meals plus packed lunch. Carcass will go in slow cooker for overnight stock making.
*Make a job list for tomorrow as I want to sort out my HQ room, including some budget stuff, shredding, filing, set up some new systems, start off new present box, etc.
*Keep heating off until 5pm. It's cold, but once I'm moving around I'll be fine.
*Sort out my baking cupboard to fit in nice stuff that I received for Christmas. Hopefully this will involve a bit of decluttering as well.
*Fill in food tracker book. Am being absolutely angelic at the moment & mr f has dropped 6lbs in 4 days!! (99% beer, I reckon!)
OK, that chicken isn't going to dismantle itself.....must get moving,
foxgloves x
DNMS - I liked the last item on your list which says 'Sewing'. That's the task to look forward to today. Imagine yourself back home being creative with a nice hot cup of coffee by your side & hopefully your difficult day will fly by x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
2) To read 100 books (46/100) 3) The Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg

Hallo all
Today I have:
Checked the regular payments went out of my bank on time
Banked the change pot and 20p stash and updated my signature
Made some monthly extra payments to my credit cards
Brought home-made lunch to work
And tonight I will:
Sort out the Christmas decorations and decide what needs replacing (so I can either buy them in the sales now or put them in the budget)
Make a start on the mending pile (mostly socks, ugh!)
Charge my phone and Kindle during the evening and not overnight, so I can switch off as soon as they're finished.Unfortunately I've been diagnosed as having brain cancer and am currently undergoing treatment. More details as I get them...0
