VOA not allowed to change Council Tax band until after Court Ruling?

I am search for information on this, but it's difficult to find in all the standard CT stuff so wondered if anyone else knew anything...

Briefly..

The CT band of my parents in law's house was increased last summer. We appealed and the appeal was turned down, so we requested a tribunal.

The information provided by the VOA at the tribunal showed that the house had previously had its CT reduced on appeal under a previous owner ( information not available to us on the VOA website). The clerk immediately halted proceedings saying that the High Court had not yet ruled ( or perhaps was considering an appeal) if the VOA was allowed change the CT band of a property subject to a previous successful appeal. Our appeal is now "stayed" until the High Court rules...

I have search high and low for information on this but to no avail! Has anyone heard of this? What do I need to search for to find the case?

Thanks in advance

M.

I've heard of this and there was a thread about a similar case. I think you will just have to be patient until there is a ruling.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Thanks, We have received a date of a second hearing, and I will obviously go along 100% prepared, but I am trying to work out if I ask about this at the outset will it make it a very short hearing again

Ask the VOA nearer the actual date if there has been a ruling. If not the VOA will probably seek a further adjournment.
