insurance renewal - is a windscreen claim classed as a 'claim'

Ok stupid question probably, ive had car insurance for the last 13 years however in the summer I had to make a claim for my windscreen for the first time. Im due to renew and getting quotes on line, when it asks if I have made any claims in the last 5 years do I need to say yes because of the windscreen claim?:o

i used to work for an insurance company, most these days log the claim for windscreen but it does not affect premiums as it is not classed as a real claim with regards to no claims discount as your ncd isnt usually affected. so i would say put it down on a new claim but dont worry about it affecting premiums.

This is not always the situation.

(Elsewhere you tell us your insurance job had nothing to do with claims!)

Well......all claims are "real" (how can you have a pretend one?)

All claims (including glass) usually do alter your profile, with a premium loading a possibility.

And can affect your NCD, Eg with swiftcover, no ncd is awarded for the year if you make a windscreen replacement claim.
