Stand by Payment

I work for a Local Authority as a salaried employee
For over twenty years I have received a stand by payment, every other week (alternate with a colleague). Nothing in my contract of employment just on an informal basis
The reason for the payment was to be available to respond to alarm activations, attend site, determine reason for activation etc.
The employer has now contracted an outside security company to attend in the case of an activation. They have cited Health and Safety (lone working) and cost saving.
I am loosing around £100 a month, do I have any comeback / recompense. I don't think so but someone may be able to offer advice
Thanks in anticipation

Very unlikely that you'd be able to do anything about it even if it was in your contract, you are no longer doing the stand by so there's no reason for payment to continue. At least you'll be able to sleep at nights now (apart from worrying about the lost income of course).0
