So, this is my second diary but the first was about when I lived alone at uni and now I'm living in a flat with my other half so it's a bit different!
The quick facts:
We're both 23.
I have a full time, he has a part time job.
Both learning to drive, no cars (or licences!) yet.
We've been together for over 3 years now.
He wants to go to college in September and then onto university; I already have a BSc.
I get paid weekly, he gets paid monthly.
The ugly bit:
My bank account is currently £200 overdrawn, with £100 in my savings account that I'm not going to touch.
His bank account is the reason I'm writing this thread. At least £1500 overdrawn. He won't tell me the exact figure... He's only just told me how big it was. I found a statement on the floor from September that was £3000+ overdrawn. Not a word was said to me about this.
The nitty gritty:
I'm on a fixed term contract until the end of March; it's possible it'll get extended but by no means a guarantee. My boss is flexible on my hours so I do between 32 and 37.5 hours a week - however some weeks I rely on a bus service which gives me either 6.5 hour days or 8.5 hour days, so it fluctuates.
OH is in a permanent retail role but hates it. He wants to look for a new place but without a driving licence, it is somewhat limited around here to pretty much just retail (from the frying pan into the fire).

Had a go at an SOA... not sure if this is totally accurate. My wage varies a lot per month and we haven't really been keeping track of what we're spending at all.

ETA: Also, some of this is combined between the two of us (electric, council tax) and then some of it is just my cost (mobile bill, clothes)

Hi....
Good luck on your journey.. I just wanted to ask.. Your tv license is quite high?? Is that the correct price your paying??0 -
Could possibly be wrong! I kinda guessed
When my OH gets back from work, I'll go through it with him and see if I've over/under estimated anything.
Today I have a few things planned...
1) Update my filofax for the next week and write a blog about it
2) Go through the stuff under my bed and in my wardrobe and see what I can charity shop/sell/throw out
3) Sort out the kitchen cupboard that I didn't look through yesterday and find somewhere safe to put my new cake stands and cake icing table
4) Go to the gym and have a go at some different exercises - I'm trying to start body weight training£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -
If you are paying for your TV licence by direct debit it is £12.12 per month.
But for the first six months when you start paying by direct debit they charge you double that.
Hope that helps.DFBX2016 #024

Well, work is crazy at the moment but I do enjoy my job so that makes it easier
I'm paid hourly which can be a bit of a tricky incentive some times! It's very easy to get to 4 o clock and decide to go home at 5 'because it's only half an hour' but actually, this week I've planned to work to half 5 every day and I'll get a lot more money for it than normal.
I think my pay might have gone up as well... but I won't be able to confirm that until next Thursday when I get paid.
Not great money wise today, I forgot my lunch so ended up in Tesco, £3.80 later
However did convince the OH that it would be better to go to see The Hobbit 2 tomorrow night when it's Orange Wednesdays rather than today (and pay for 2 tickets rather than one) after I've been to the gym. I have a fitness class at 7 and I'm rather dreading it  I went to a similar one on Saturday and lasted about ten minutes before I nearly passed out
but that was because I hadn't eaten anything (so I'm taking a banana to eat at work about 4:30pm so I don't feel the same). Fitness classes are included in my membership
Having a few mopey days though, I think it's the weather. There's a lot of things I want/need/am lusting after but just can't afford. Soooo I've made a list and blogged about it, ahah.£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0
