Recipe too sweet - add vinegar?

Hi all,
I tried a new recipe today which is currently in the slow cooker. But it tastes a bit sweet (it's a curry). Will a splash of vinegar help to balance it out? In the cupboard I've got rice vinegar or normal white vinegar - will one of these do the trick?
