Mortgage companies geared towards self build / renovation / land?

Hi all
As the title says, I'm looking for advice / recommendations for mortgage companies who would lend against a self build or renovation project, or even a land purchase. (Rather than a mortgage for your average house).
I'm aware that land would be difficult to get a "mortgage" on due to lack of security, so perhaps a loan would be a better option in that case.
So, to keep it simple then, can anyone recommend a mortgage company who deals / specialises in renovation / self build projects?
