Facebook scams????

Options
This comp is obviously a scam... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4859256 but what I would like to know is why does a person/group of people set up a scam page with a fake giveaway? What do they gain from it?

They get a facebook page with lots of likes which they can sell apparently.

What I wonder is why they get posted on here when they are obviously a scam...

Sorry to sound dumb but I still don't get it? How can they sell a facebook page and who too?

  • If a page has loads of likes, a business will buy it in order to have an already-built audience!

Facebook likes selling is a big business online lots of companies sell likes

    example

If you think about it there is an assumption that a page with more likes is somehow more "genuine".

I have 750,000 likes on a page I set up years ago. People keep offering to buy it for between £500-£1000. I refuse. Yes, the money would be awesome, but my moral compass is firmly set on no!

WOW Thanks - I didn't know that! No wonder there are so many scams these days if companies are willing to pay that much for pages with many likes!

It's so they don't have to spend alot of time building up a fan base.

However, what they don't realise is that alot of people end up unliking the page when they discover that it's been bought. People like a page for a reason. When that reason has gone they just unlike the page.

Must admit I do a regular culls and unlike pages I am not interesting in. I am really picky now with entering Facebook comps and I am quite good at recognising a scam - even if I don't quite understand why it is a scam lol!
