I picked up a prima bread maker yesterday from a freecycler.
came with instructions etc
I tried it today and followed the recipe in the manual to the letter.
However, after the mixing, it did nothing, did not rise bubble or anything, and looked more like a cake batter than bread mix.
Can anyone tell me where I went wrong?
I used bread flour from the weight your own store, yeast from tesco (I put two sachet in of the dried stuff, not sure if that was too much), and used olive oil in stead of butter.
I also started again after the mixing, as I was sure it was not working, but it has just come out like a brick, and is really salty yuk!
any help would be appreciated.

I don't have a prima breadmaker, but when I use sachets of yeast in my MR, I only use 1, so that could well be the problem.
I don't know about Tesco's own make yeast, but others that I have tried often tell you how much to use on the box.

I use 1/2 packet yeast for 1 1/2lb loaf
Sounds like you overdid the salt though which would have killed the yeast off anyway.
What were the measurements you used? Were you precise and did you weigh/measure each item?
Was your yeast in date?0 -
