I have my granddaughter this weekend and I'm not sure what to feed her so would appreciate some ideas.
Tomorrow morning I'm thinking wheetabix with mashed banana. I've tried her on mashed banana and I'm not sure she likes it. I gave her mash & swede this evening and she definitely did not like it! Am stumped now for ideas
Would be very grateful for some suggestions. I don't want to get baby food.
thank you

I would give her what her parents feed her rather than change her diet. Can you ask them what she likes or is used to?0

At that age, daughter was eating minestrone soup, namely I'd cook it, sieve out the soft veg for her, and drink the liquid myself.
Do you have carte blanche from the Mum - might be an idea to run your ideas by her, just in case there are any foods that really disagree with granddaughter.0 -
What do her parents do? Give her what they usually give her. Maybe they use baby food maybe they do baby led weaning.
Either way, at six months the whole eating solids thing will be new to her and at this age milk should still be her main food. So I wouldn't worry if she doesn't eat much so long as she's having her milk.0 -
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I would take advise from her parents as to what they're giving her. 6 months is now the recommended weaning age so she could be very new to solid food, in which case there may be very few foods she's tried already. If her parents are going down the whole puree route, then a few spoons of pureed veg or fruit will probably suffice. Or maybe they do baby-led weaning (as I did with my babies) and just give her whatever you're eating to chomp / suck on. At 6 months my two would have had a nibble of toast, a piece of banana to chew on, some softly-cooked carrot sticks or broccoli heads, cut-up cooled omelette or occasionally Ready Brek or Weetabix on a spoon for them to put in their mouth themselves if they wanted it.
In any event, milk should still be the main source of food at 6 months so don't worry if she doesn't fancy what you're offering.0
