I'm terrible at overspending on presents as well, can't resist buying just one more...also try quido or top cashback to see if you can get money off or cashback from shopping at your usual online sites!
  • Spent £55.92 on food, £5.92 over budget but will have 2 chicken breasts, 2 chicken thighs, 6 sausages & an assortment of bits of veg left over for next week :D I'm pretty happy with that. Have invited my mum & dad over for a cassoulet bulked up with lots of veg & beans with lots of herbs & bits of sausage, smoked gammon & chicken for loads of flavour.

I think I've found the main pressie for my hubby, he does a bit of valeting & wants to get some decent stuff so he cancharge a bit more and it'll take him less time. He wrote down a list of things he wanted, mostly small bits but a couple of dream items he said he knew my budget wouldn't come close to. I've found one of his dream items on ebay - second hand, refurbished and at £18 +£14.95 postage instead of £249 new! Hopefully it won't get bid on too much last minute.

How's it going Mrs Hubbard? Did you manage to win the dream item for hubby? Fingers crossed you did and it was at a good price!
  • A year later and I'm back in the same position as before! Well slightly better - after 6 years of trying & many failed ivf transfers I'm now pregnant & due in February :D We've done really well getting pretty much everything second hand or in the sales plus our parents have bought us things as well.

I went completely off the debt clearing plan but am trying to start afresh this year and stick to it. I have all the good intentions but no willpower :(

I think I actually owe about the same on the ccs, was a lot less but have ended up lending hubby a lot for bits & bats & not got the money back so my plans have gone to pot. I have no willpower when it comes to telling him we can't afford something. We have had a talk though and know we need to need to put our saving heads on with a little un on the way. The mortgage is still up to date & quite low - now at bob on £76,000. We could remortgage to repay debts but as we've made a few late payments not sure if we could plus all the cc debts are interest free from balance transferring so makes more sense to keep trying to pay them that way.

My soa has changed slightly - got a few things cheaper now so will redo that.

Want to join a few challenges to help me clear those cards, thinking of the payment a day one to begin with.

I feel like a broken record but am fed up of saying to my hubby every now & again that we need to sort our debts out,I want this to be the year things really change so we can enjoy our new little family in a better position.

  • Can't figure out how to change my signature but have worked out I'm worse off than I was.

    Mortgage - £76,000
Overdraft -£650 ( usually £750ish at end of month)
    CCs -
    CC1 - £3077.81
    CC2- £6583.87
    CC3 - £561.09

CC3 needs transferring in a few months to stay interest free so my first aim is to clear the CC3 so I can transfer the balance to that as I'm always getting balance transfer offers sent for it as it's getting closer to being paid off.

At the moment I'm paying more than the minimum on the 2 lower amounts and am also at the end of each month rounding them all and my mortgage down to the nearest tenner with an extra payment. I was behind one payment on my mortgage but have made it up by doung this.
