Am I a FTB

Guys

I have never owned a home or had a mortgage. However we currently live in a shared ownership scheme which my husband took out in 2011; it means he has a mortgage.

We would like to look into buying a house, but I don't know if we would qualify as a first time buyer or not? Would the mortgage need to be only in my name if we wanted to take advantage of FTB promotions?

Totally new to this so I don't want to enter any discussions with a financial adviser until I have amassed some basic knowledge

There aren't many FTB promotions worth caring about any more.

There are a few, but different lenders have different definitions of FTBs. Sometimes neither of you can have had a property before, sometimes it's OK if one of you has, and sometimes you can count as an FTB if neither of you own a property now.
