TV Wall Unit

Hi all,

We wanted to buy a nice tv wall unit. Have looked at the Ikea ones which look very expensive for what you will get. Have come across the below after a Google search which will look very nice in our living room, however have never heard of the company (although payment is via paypal and I spoke to them & they seem legit enough).

Before I go ahead and order, I wanted to see if anyone has any other recommendations? Really don't know anywhere apart from Ikea! Thank you in advance!

if you have kids, fit a wall bracket, saves space underneath the tv as well to put your medis device too

tv units very much depend on your taste, storage requirements, space, existing decor so my preferences would be very specifdic to me

the link you posted above for instance doesnt do it for me, appears like an ueban log cabin type look, the wood grains are too wide and look a bit out of control for my tastes I would prefer a much more even colour and grain than that.

ps i would want to see furniture in person before buying. this is made from veneered fibreboard. it's a big unit so after fitting it might look very cheap.

also i woukd not spend that much on flat pack furniture on an unknown company. what if you have missing screws or lose screws? or parts are outright defective? would trhey want you to disassemble everything and send the whole unit back? or will they supply you witha new part?

Ikea are very good for missing/defective screws. You can walk around in the ikea showrooms and view furniture like this. If you found something you like there I would get it.

p.s. that picture looks like a computer generated image to me. The TV is and makes me think the wall unit is too - so even more reason to be cautious.

Doesn't fill me with confidence, domain registered in Poland, hosting in Germany. Contact address on website is incomplete:

    FURNISH HOUSE
    Southampton SO197 GP
    Hampshire
    United Kingdom

Google street view is inconclusive, but then without a street name it would be.

I couldn't find any independent site reviews on the internet e.g. trustpilot (although these should still be viewed with a sceptical eye even if they exist) https://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/modernfurnish.co.uk

    I personally wouldn't buy there.

Edited to add, I'm quite cynical, spent 12 hours Sat driving and visiting diy-kitchens.com as even though they have great feedback, it is still a big spend!

Under 'About us', their website says: 'We are the leading, national premium department store group in the UK trading principally under the iconic Furnish House brand name.' If you look on Companies House's website, the company through which they trade (H&S Centre Ltd) was only incorporated on 23 May 2014. Might be worth asking how they created their 2007 'shopping experience' and what happened to that company...could be a perfectly simple and genuine explanation.

It did come from Poland but was rapid. There was a problem with a door that had snapped in transit but was replaced within a few days - even though the replacement came from Poland. We struggled with the instructions as they were simply wordless images but we persevered and worked our way through them. We had a few mishaps along the way with misinterpreting the instructions but it got easier as we built the units - we started recognising and anticipating the instructions and also had fewer pieces to guess at.
Like all flat pack furniture, take your time and be sure it's as solid as it can be and it will be ok.
We did adapt the wall units as we were worried about the weight and stability so we have pretty much screwed them to the wall! We also replaced the feet for IKEA legs to raise up the floor units. Also, the plum colour is plum, not the purple on the eBay ad.
Another thing we did was measure and then remeasure the wall so we knew it would be in the right place before we screwed into our expensive wall paper! It is important to ensure the wall units are in the right place as their placement dictates where everything else lands, including the TV.
Well worth the effort, it looks lovely and visitors comment on it immediately.
