I actually use dairy lea ( or should I say the Lidl looky likey ) as a base for a chillie cheese sauce for pasta - it works really well-taff said:I wouldn't cook with a cheese spread. It;ll just go to liquid. Cream cheese is completely different. You wouldnt make a cheesecake with cheese spread, but you would with cream cheese.
But for cheesecakes - its cream cheese - philly and the likes

You will sometimes see 'soft white cheese' which looks like Philadelphia but often has fewer additives than Philly. It's usually cheaper too. Sainsbury's does an organic one and Lactofree does one.
180g Philadelphia 1.95
150g Lactose free Philadelphia 1.95
300g Sainsbury's full fat soft white cheese 1.25
250g Sainsbury's organic soft white cheese 1.55
200g Lactofree soft cheese 1.35
