Can anyone recommend a vacuum please?

I need a new vacuum!
My current one, is a cheap Vax, that is not picking up as good as it used to, even after a thorough clean and investigation, so I want to buy a new one.
I have 2 dogs, that make my carpet look awful.
Can someone please recommend a vacuum (NOT Hoover) for about £100!
I have seen a Dyson DCO7, for £150, but would like to try something else!
Thanks for any help.

Miele cat and dog is the best vacuum cleaner in the world!!! Although they are about £180....
Or would you class this as a hoover? What is the difference between a vacuum and a hoover? Our dream has come true...0 -
Hoover is a brand, a vacuum cleaner is ALL vacuum cleaners but Hoover is now quite often used as a generic word to refer to vacuuming.
I would highly recommend getting a Henry which you should be able to get for about £100. The reason why I recommend them is that my one is actually inherited from my friend's aunt who gave it to us after she closed her cleaning firm. That firm went on for about 5 years before she gave it to us and it is still in perfect working order almost 15 years later! A lot of hospitals use Henrys as they are good at picking up pretty much anything so should be great for your doghair.0 -
I also love the henrys. Long lead and stores well. Suction is good and really reliable.(see to remember I could use it with or without bags as well.) Now have a dyson animal but gave my Henry to my mum. For £100 with a henry you just can't go wrong!True MSE'r -Money Spending Expert0

I bought a second hand kirkby heritage 2 about 11 years ago...best hoover i have ever had....it doubles a a hoover come cleaner, the man that services it said to use only the kirkby shampoo, but i find good old stardrops just as good.i would recommend a good second hand one as the brand new ones are a terrible price..Received £250.00 with one phone call to reclaim Mortgage Exit Administration£ fees AND £2995.00 bank charges from Lloyds TSb..All thanks to Martin Lewis. :T :money::T:beer:0
