nectar points with only 11 digit number

can you take your 11 digit number with you when at either sainsburys shop or petrol station to claim nectar points?
I registered online for a card so its not been delivered yet, I want to go shopping tomorrow but im only going to sainsburys if I can claim my points with just the number, otherwise asda is closer.

I believe once you have got your card you can get the points added at customer services.0

just keep your receipts and have points added when the card comes.0

Just incase you somehow have enough points to redeem already, and that is what you wanted to ask about, you may possibly be able to type your card number on the self checkout tills but apart from that you need the card present to redeem/collect points.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
