I understand bankruptcy is removed from your credit file after 6 years but is this 6 years after declaring bankrupt or 6 years after release from bankruptcy? In my case I was released after 12 months

Does this mean that if I apply for a mortage 6 years after declaring then banks and mortgage advisors wont see any record of the bankruptcy? Also so the courts get rid of the bankruptcy info?
I am just desperate to get back on the property ladder0 -
Depends, it will go from your credit file but they can keep their own records of what is simply public information for as long as they like.0

Your bankruptcy will always be visible on the register and in the London Gazette.
Beware questions that state have you EVER been bankrupt. You must answer then truthfully.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I always would answer everything correctly. Just trying to get an idea whether I will get a mortgage next December because im currently saving0

You will need to work hard to have a spotless credit file and save for a hefty deposit - much the same as anyone who's not been BR.
There are some good news stories on the board about people who have managed to get a mortgage after BR so its not impossible - Good Luck

Experian has me at 993 out of 999 with me going bankrupt in December 20080 -
This suggests that your recent credit history is in very good shape. But as others have said, mortgage providers will usually ask if you've ever been bankrupt and some may have policies on this, so check out any prospective lender's criteria in advance of applying to try to save wasted applications.
