Loan Application Question - "sole commitments"
I'm applying for a personal loan and looking through the application, it asks about my sole commitments when I make a sole application.
Now I am married, but I'd rather just take this out in my name as my spouse is a foreign national (and self employed).
What I'd like to know - and this is probably a stupid question, but my Google-fu let me down - for things like rent and utilities, should I put down the WHOLE amount that we pay as a couple, or just my share of it? On the face of it, the loan would probably be unaffordable if I was held entirely responsible for all family spending, but it becomes more complicated if it's done as a joint application.

I've never seen a tenancy agreement that says you only have to pay half the rent.

I'm just about to make a loan application in my name only and not my partner's. I will put down as outgoings anything that I could be held liable for by the creditor, regardless that these costs may be in joint names - always work on the basis that you are jointly and severally liable for any debts in joint names like TV, utilities, the mortgage or rent. I guess the only exception would be where you are an additional cardholder on a credit card in the name of your other half??? I can see that this makes the affordability of your proposed loan a bit harder to see, but thats just the problem with a sole application.0
