Hi Could anyone please tell me .... When a joint mortgage is paid in full would both parties have to sign the documentation when this is done at the bank...Thanks

the mortgage was with RBS in the course of my divorce it was paid in full, by my now ex-husband.I now have other issues with the RBS and they tell me that i must have signed documentation when the mortgage was discharged,i did not.My question is SHOULD i have been required to sign paperwork.Thanks0

I can't imagine what paperwork would require a signature when repaying a mortgage in full.
Basically, you hand over the cheque and the debt is settled and the lender instructs its solicitor to remove the charge over the property.
