Term time only contract and sickness

I have a term time only contract and was due back to work today but I'm sick, and have been since New Year's Eve. My employer says I've been off for 2 weeks so need a sick certificate because I'm term time only.

Is this correct that they can count the whole holiday as sick and the normal 7 day rule doesn't apply?

Thanks

I believe that Any sick leave that overlaps with a holiday then a notes is required. Would be the same if you were off ill on the last day before the end of term. That's what I have always thought.
