Mortgage AIP "referred" -- what happens now?

Hi,

I just went through the AIP process for a Nationwide mortgage and got a "refer" as the outcome. I have been asked to send in my payslip and P60.

I guess that there are two possible reasons why this was the decision:

- I opened a FlexDirect account with NW only yesterday, so as to be able to apply for this particular mortgage
- I currently receive a £3k salary uplift per year for taking on additional duties, that will stop in August 2016, so when the form asked "is there any reason your income will decrease in the foreseeable future?", I answered "yes" and explained the situation in the text box --- clearly human eyes are needed to understand this.

My wife and I both have good credit history, are permanently employed on good salaries (72k and 36k), and our LTV is 46% or so.

What kinds of things are going to go on behind the scenes while our application is referred? Is there any reason to be concerned?

Cheers,

Guy.

Case and supporting docs will be checked on receipt and if ok, the "Accept" will be given.
