Lobster creel

Hi,
Anyone know where you can buy a lobster creel around Bangor - I've seen them online for about £80 + delivery? A friend has bought a small fishing boat and I fancy catching a lobster or two this summer - cheaper than buying them!

I'm pretty sure I've seen fishermen using them down at Donaghadee harbour. Might be worth asking one of them for advice if you ever seem them about.0

As with most things in life, it's only free if you follow the rules :wall:
Best to know what the law says before you get pulled by a fisheries officer though. Most of what you need to know can be found HERE.
I will offer you one piece of advice though. A friend did something similar (in Carlingford Lough) a few years ago. Or at least he tried to......
The local lobster boys didn't take too kindly to someone undermining them, so they continually cut his lines. He had to give up in the end as he couldn't replace the pots he was losing. And this was just for personal consumption (two pots) not a commercial venture.0 -

I'm a bit taken aback by that. Not very good behaviour by the existing guys and of course there's nothing you can do about it. It just goes to show how naive we can all be at times with our wee projects. Some people in this world (and in this province) just aren't very nice.0 -
Only one example of the poor attitudes I came across during my little fishing trips around the lough in a boat Glyn.
Nigh on impossible to prove who it was, but we all knew who was responsible. You would think there is enough room for everyone in almost 500km2 of water, but apparently not0 -
Thanks bingo bango - one of the reasons why I don't want an expensive one. I've heard rumours about such things happening0

Not sure what exactly you are looking for Phil, but you can buy two new creels on Ebay for less than the price you quoted in OP.
See HERE. Might be worth a go with cheap ones to see how you get on before really spending money?0 -

I wonder; is it not possible to go to the pub where these guys drink and buy them a pint or something to make sure your wee hobby isn't destroyed before it takes off?
I'm genuinely shocked that things like this happen.0
