I've just received an email from Nectar on-line, advising that for every £1 raised from OXFAM charity shop sales, the donator will receive 2 Nectar points...
:money:
PLUS 100 NECTAR Points for signing up here:
https://www.oxfam.org.uk/donate/dona...ift-aid-signup
:money:
"Every time you Tag Your Bag and donate goods to Oxfam shops, we can claim 25% Gift Aid from the government. And that means your donations will be worth even more to people living in poverty worldwide. Collect 2 Nectar points per £1 your donations raise. What's more, if you donate your unwanted items to our shops for the Mother Appeal before 31 March 2014, the UK government will match the money your goods raise, pound for pound."

[Obviously you have to register for gift aid, so that your donations are registered to you and you can receive your Nectar points].

...Apologies if this news has already appeared in the supermarket coupons forum - I did have a search before posting this new thread, but was unable to locate anything relating to this new Nectar point scheme. ;)

I spotted sign in Oxfam bookshop window at weekend and called them. If you pay 40% tax you can use the annual Tag the Bag statement to claim £25 from HMRC for every £100 donated/donated goods sold. This doesn't affect the extra 25% Oxfam gets on every £1 via Gift Aid.

NB: You have to be a UK taxpayer to do this Gift Aid Tag the Bag scheme and pay more in tax than the value Oxfam gets for the donated stuff.

If you don't pay tax you can't use Gift Aid and if you do be aware that technically YOU can be liable to give HMRC back the 25% given to the charity if non UK taxpayer.

Have to say though 100 Nectar points better than kick in the teeth, 500 points is only worth 2.50 so unless you regularly give Oxfam a lot of stuff you won't make a lot of Nectar points.

The £5 off £35 M&S spend vouchers for taking M&S clothes to Oxfam/M&S might be better offer ?
