Bottle of water best before question

A friend of mine has bought a bottle of Funkin
water from Tesco. There is a best before date on the top of the bottle which has passed. It only has a few ingredients in it ( Water, Sugar, Citric acid, Siberian Ginseng Infusion and natural favouring). I told him it will be fine as it's only water with a few favourings in it. He has tried it and says it tastes ok. Will it be ok for him to drink or should he take it back to Tesco for a refund

I don't think supermarkets are allowed to sell products at full price after their best before date, so he should take it back
however using a product past its date will not normally cause much harm but obviously 20 years past its date may do a lot of harm
the use by date should always be paid attention to as it could mean there are harmful levels of bacteria in the product.Debt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0 -
Is it definitely the best before date, or is it the manufactured dated?Gone ... or have I?0

Bottled water doesn't have to have the micro content measured - EU Laws!!
so companies put Best before dates since any standing water will have some micro content and this will obviously multiply the longer the water stands/
He is within his rights to take it back and since bottled water isn't cheap then I probably would do so0 -
He has put it in the fridge and is going to drink it as it's only water.Come on you Irons0

For your and your friend's peace of mind you should take it back. Also by taking it back and alerting them, they should also then check the rest of the stock is still OK and within its sell by date :beer:0 -

INCORRECT.
Shops can sell ANYTHING after its BEST BEFORE DATE, at ANY PRICE they desire.
Only goods which have a USE BY DATE cannot legally be sold at any price after that date.
Please check your facts before posting misleading information.
