post bankruptcy

I was discharged from bankruptcy over two years ago, have no debts, one secured credit card, and am earning over £65k. My partner and I are looking at buying together - he is on a similar salary and has an excellent credit history. Are we likely to be able to get a mortgage together? We have around a 10% deposit.

    Yes you should be able to get a mortgage between teh both of you.

    What rates, and waht amounts will depend on what your credit file looks like and what figures you are looking at, but you should be able to get a mortgage

    With incomes like that you will be able to afford a massive mortgage.

    Looking at probably in the region of £350k, but have concerns about whether doing it jointly will destory my partners credit rating!

    You will create a financial association between you and your partner.

    So it will mean that your credit history may impact on the rates that could be available to you both

    However a good whole of market adviser will look to place with a high street lender first, and talk your case through generically with lenders to see which will be able to look more favourable on your circumstances and offer you the best deals
