DFS payments

I have 1 year left on my sofa payments to DFS and would like to clear the balance. Any one any idea how to do this?

  • Had a quick scan on their website:
You can settle your finance account early at no extra cost. dfs use external finance companies, so please call them directly to discuss your settlement figure or for any queries regarding payments. To find out which finance company you are with, simply check the paperwork they sent you at the time of placing the order. Or check the name that is on your bank account direct debit. When you call, please ensure you have your agreement number to hand (on the letter you received from the finance provider when your order was placed).

So looks like you just need to talk to the finance company who your agreement is with and ask for a settlement figure. They may allow overpayments or you might have to save and pay it all off at once.

I assume it's at 0%? In which case you won't save anything by paying early, so if you have other debt at higher rates it might be worth looking at that first?

    Hope that helps!

  • The finance is probably with Hitachi Capital. If you google them, get a number and give them a call.

I checked and its with Clydesdale financial services so I will give them a call.
Although it is 0% there isn't much left on it and I can then use the monthly payments as extra off the credit card. That was my thinking!!

    Hi Mrs B

I think the general principle recommended here is pay off the highest APR first. however I understand the clearing one debt idea works for alot of people motivationally so good luck with clearing this one and the rest !

  • I only owe £500 and can pay that off next month leaving £42 a month spare. £500 off the credit card is a drop in the ocean :rotfl: so my plan is to clear the small debt (and feel my morale boosted by a quick win and one less debt :p) and then add the £42 a month to my monthly payments on the credit card.
