Have joined the fiscal fast and on day one so using this time to use up everything in the cupboards and freezers - for four adults who work, go out etc etc I have to meal plan as otherwise it would be chaos.
Meal plan for this week is
Thursday - Chicken noodle soup with prawn crackers
Friday - Baked mackerel with salad
Saturday - Sausage meatballs with pasta and HM sauce
Sunday - Pie of the day with mash and veggies
Monday - Turkey curry with rice and HM pakora's
Tuesday - Spaghetti bolognaise
I think it helps that we have a written menu plan on the fridge so everyone knows what the plan is so stuff which is used for a meal does not go in a sandwich!

I'm certainly going to join in. Family been off whilst I was working at Christmas and me being me thought I would get some good stuff to keep them sustained. Most of it got wasted and not savable. I am completely gutted with what I have thrown away and going to be hard line this year. DD is helping me do a complete food inventory tomorrow (she hasn't been told yet) and meal plans for the next few weeks will be done.0

Hello, can I join in please?
I have a double reason for wanting to get back to meal planning- the first is to save money of course, but I am also trying to lose weight and it is so much easier when I have planned what to eat rather than grabbing the first thing that I can lay my hands on.
I have two very full freezers as I like to whoopsie shop and have frozen lots of leftover cooked meats from Christmas too. I would like to free up some space in the freezer so my plans will be based around this.
Items in brackets are my lunches. Everyone else takes a packed lunch during the week and will be eating the remaining Christmas party food, crackers etc for weekend lunches.
Sat- turkey curry, rice
(tomato soup)
Sun- roast chicken, carrots, peas, stuffing, yorkshire puddings
(sweetcorn fritter)
Mon- beef and mixed pepper curry, rice
(leftover turkey curry)
Tues- spaghetti bolognese
(leftover beef curry)
Wed- mini burgers/bean burgers, wedges, baked beans
(leftover spaghetti)
Thurs- chops/herb chicken, new potatoes, sweetcorn
(leftover bean burger with a fried egg)
Fri- fishcakes, mash, mushy peas/baked beans
The only items that I need to buy are eggs, salad, ideally another veg or two for Sunday and potatoes.
I have enough food in the freezer and cupboards to cover packed lunches and breakfasts for the week but may get a bit more fruit later in the week.
This plan is flexible in case of a great whoopsie haul but I tend to freeze anything and everything anyway.
Fingers crossed for a very low grocery spend this week!
Thank you to everyone whose advice has helped me in my desperate quest to make ends meet. x
EDIT-Back on the quest, I've been away too long!0
