The January sale myth??

I'm confused. Is the 'january sale' a myth? Originating from them olden days when it was literally, the sales during the month of January, before which everything was full priced. Rather than the pre-Christmas sale, followed by the Boxing day sale leading into the January sale.

So are there different grades of sales? Are we having a post Christmas sale now but will there be an even bigger sale in January? Or will it be the same sale (but worse cos all the good stuff will be gone?) 11.gif

And are the sales online different to the ones in the stores? I'm thinking they are better instore (otherwise why would anyone bother to go out surely?). I've been online for H&M which was just rubbish and got a few bits from River Island but nothing to write home about.

I really need to get my son some new clothes. Not sure whether to just go for it now or wait til January?

I know it depends on the store, can't fault Body Shop's 50% off but I need clothes!

Certainly last year Debenhams have their 'blue cross sale' where there are better bargains, I have found the sales really poor this time, waiting for some better discounts...
  • I was thinking that Debenhams normally have a good rep for their sales - I've just never shopped there and never think of going there. Perhaps I should take a look.

I don't think the Jan sales exist anymore. It became tge Boxing Day Sales which have since become the Xmas Eve sales. Jan is whatever is left ..

I agree with this. The sales are getting earlier and earlier. I remember about 12 years ago when the only shops that opened on Boxing Day were diy or furniture shops.

I've always found that there isn't much left by January.
