Onwards, upwards, somehow .... Just the depth that differs

Taken a few months to post this
I've been here before, left debt free & now I'm back
Have been well & truly ripped off by a former friend, now find myself deeper in it than before
I'm not quite sure how to tackle it yet but know after using this site to save on my gas & electricity today (just switched) I know I need to get back into the habit

So I'm here, I don't mind talking to myself but would appreciate the support I know exists, I think I might start on a sealed pot, I've done that before & it might save adding to debt next Christmas

So that's, well, lil_me :A
One day I might be more organised...........

Sorry to hear about what's happened to you. So rotten when others treat you badly. Chin up, you'll get to the surface! Good luck!

Focusing on where I can save easily at the minute
Decided grocery wise this will be a use up month, considering putting another freezer @ OHs work to save on work meals

I know it might not help at this time but have you thought about the £365 in 365 days challenge??

It is £1 a day. I am planning to do this challenge with my OH and then stop saving on 1st November. It should give us about £600 to spend on xmas in 2014.

I know that you haven't said anything about how short on money you are now, but I noticed that you mentioned not getting further into debt at Christmastime so thought that I would suggest it.

Good luck with your journey lil_me.
    Hugs.

Buffy I've spent over a year trying that. I had savings before it happened and now debt which is over £40k as it's been a case of borrowing one to pay another to live. So now it's a case of walk away, try to forget as I'll never manage to forgive and see what we can do for the best

Stewby I've had a look at a couple of the challenges, going to do the sealed pot with £2 coins so I'm sort of taking part in both and stopped myself spending one last night. The £1 a day seems good, I would have to focus where I could save the £1 to put it away I guess.

Thanks for the support, it really does help

  • Oh God, that is awful. It is deeply unfair. I hope you keep all the paperwork, someday there might be a way.

I suppose the thing to keep in mind is lots of people have paid off that level of debt. It is doable. It is possible.

and you are in good company. have you checked out the frugal challenge - I am rubbish but am learning!

I'll have a look at the frugal challenge thanks
First card company contacted today, Barclaycard , really could not have been any more helpful. In fact she was so lovely she made me cry. She's frozen my account this month while I get my head round things which is really useful and more than I expected. I'll phone another one at least tomorrow
Must spend the 2nd setting up a new bank account, I need to pay this overdraft off and I need rid of it to stop me I think. New account, new payments, new start
