DIY Season and Shake???

Options
Hello

I've never used this board before so I am sorry if I'm asking something I shouldn't, feel free to delete, point me in the right direction etc...

Anyway, my friend recently made some delicious vegetables as part of a meal last week. It turns out she had used a Colmans season and shake bag, Had a look at getting some but think theyre a bit expensive AT £1 each. Does anyone have any alternatives??? Have tried just using various herbs and spices but they were nowhere near as nice.

Thanks in advance :)

One thing to consider with your homemade version - did you use much salt, and did you add sugar? Colman's will be very generous with these - it's what makes things taste good! Salt is the second highest ingredients in the mediterranean vegetables pack, and sugar is above all the spices

It's something that was mentioned to me on here when I was trying to recreate the flavour from Dolmio sauce jars - my homemade versions were lacking in something, and it really did make a difference. Once you get the flavour right, you can gradually cut down the amount you use in your next batches, I now only add a small amount of sugar to my bologneses as our tastebuds have adjusted.

I just use the roasting bags from the supermarkets,or home bargains, pack of 10 for £1.., will be using one today for a whole cooked chicken,I'm either going to add Piri piri seasoning, or OXO chicken shaker depending on wether were having rice or potatoes, just as tasty but works out cheaper than the Colemans, or Maggi type bags.
