Duolingo is a set of free language courses, you can choose between German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese (also English for some learners). It's very interactive, and you can track your progress and set goals. It even lets you use a microphone to speak into it so you can check your pronunciation. :)

I'm using the iPad app, you can also use it through your phone and it's available via the website as well. It's such a great little course, definitely one of the better ones out there! It was voted free app of the year... more info on that here.

Hope someone finds this helpful! :)

Official MoneySavingExpert insert: Duolingo has confirmed it's free to sign up and learn Spanish, French, English, German, Italian and Portuguese. It's for both beginners and intermediate linguists. Once you've completed a module, you can choose to translate some text and Duolingo earns commission for the translation which is how it's able to run for free. Thanks to Pearla*Merle for sharing this offer.

Duolingo also have an app, certainly on the iPhone, I'm not sure about Android.

The app is so simple to use and I've been doing it for a couple of months now. I have learned so much Spanish as a result.

I'm not sure if it the same online through a computer, but the app breaks lessons down into 20 questions at a time on one subject which takes about 5 minutes to complete, so you can learn in small chunks at a time.

You can also set daily goals for yourself so you don't start slacking.

I am so greatful to Duolingo as it is teaching me loads and not costing a penny. What a wonderful app!! Gracias Duolingo. :j:T:j:T
