Doing really well Midgie! The food budget is an area where I need to make a lot of changes, we spend far too much!

I think I'm the same Eyebright!

I'm going to try really hard to stop popping into the shop to pick up a 'wee extra' pint of milk, eggs etc during the week. I never manage to leave the shop without buying a couple of other extras!:(

    Another SFD chalked up today!

I have £100 that comes out of my salary every month and goes into my Credit Union account (balance is currently £10) I've emailed them and asked them to open up a second account and split the amount between the two accounts (£70/30). The first is going to be for small savings (presents, Christmas etc) and the second is going to be my 'Do Not Touch Unless Absolutely Necessary' emergency fund.

I know that I should be putting very penny towards my debt but I'm a bit worried that something will arise and I won't have a penny to my name to deal with it (particularly now I don't have access to a credit card).

Obviously if I get to the point where these balances are getting quite big then I'll take money out and put it towards debt.

    Does that sound reasonable?

It would be great if everyday were a PJ and NSD ! :rotfl: Well done. I forgot to note my NSD today on my diary as well! Damn.

I think it's sensible to have some back up funds and important to save for big events like Christmas so no big surprises when Xmas shopping time arrives. Alot of people will advocate against saving when there are debts to be paid, but you're spot on - if an emergency bill/break down etc happens, it's got to be paid for and better to have the money than have to borrow it. :)

Midge, we were advised to have £30 a month put aside for future costs, like you say car repairs etc cost a lot and if you don't have the credit card then you wouldn't be able to get them done.

:) Thanks! I'm just waiting for them to set it all up!

Being back at work today kicked my a@@! I am worth nothing tonight!

Unfortunately not a SFD - I spent £2.40 getting set up for snacks/lunches for the rest of the week! Tomorrow should be a SFD!

Ah! It was not a NSD today!

Spent £5 getting a taxi to work because my train was cancelled! Grr!

Still I'm on track I think - £31 to last until 21st Jan! Next week might be a bit tight but I'll make it (fingers & toes crossed!!!)!

Credit Union accounts all set up!!!!

I've also started entering some of the competitions I found on the forum - its keeping my busy (not eating while doing it) and you never know - I might just be lucky!:D

I'm quite proud of myself tonight!:)

I had a really rubbish day and had almost talked myself into ordering a take-out but I came home, came on here and read a few diaries about how good people feel when they pay off all their debt and I got inspired again!!!

Chips and fishfingers are in the oven as I write!!!:D

Love Love LOVE fish fingers and chips! Sorry to hear you've had a bad day, but a great turn around from contemplating a take-away :T
