The £2014 in 2014 challenge

  • I started slowly last year but gathered pace in the summer only to fail towards the end of the year. I managed £1607 last year but this year I am going out to reach my target.

Started with EBay, just received £29 into my account. I cashed in Nectar points for Christmas and so Necter ad points will be a favourite this year!, I use my Tesco points to help for the summer holiday travel, but they will be added to my total.

Thanks to everyone for the steady stream of advice, good luck everyone.

I've just claimed £2 in Amazon vouchers and added it to my sig.

I'm counting cash or cash-equivalent-vouchers earned from survey sites, and any extra earnings like ebay profits, for this challenge.

  • Hello everyone

Managed to bag an OT shift for tonight, not sure what I'll get after tax but will work it out and update total.

Been lazy on the eBay and survey front  but will make sure I list stuff tomo as its the last day of free listings on eBay

Well done everyone who's squirreling away

    £2014 in 2014 £432.47
  • I'm still at £0 but have a few things listed on ebay and hopefully a few things later in the month that should see me pocket a few £... excited to see the number go up!

I spent a good hour or so last night on GlobalTestMarket doing surveys - had about 15 available to me, and every single one screened me out. Doh!

What kinds of thing is everyone doing to raise their extra cash? For those that did it last year, where did most of your fundraising come from?

What do people count towards their £2014? Do you include, say money you've saved against purchases, or just *actual* money you have received extra? If it is money you've saved, do you put that aside as savings? Personally, I'd like to have £2014 extra by the end of the year.

Sorry for the bombardment of questions! :o

I think everyone is different, for me I don't include savings or vouchers unless I actually take the money I would have used a put it into my savings. Also on the savings front again I think it's just personal choice, for example I will be 'saving' mine but the first £800 will clear my od, so by the end of the year I will only have £1214 savings but I have raised £2014 if that makes sense!
    £0.00/£2014 saved!

    Sealed pot member :D

    2014 onwards and upwards!

Can I join as well please? Just had my last payday as I have been made redundant. However, as I'm 59 and OH is 65 we have decided to retire. Income will be cut by about two thirds but no debts apart from mortgage which is "covered" by ISAs currently paying more than interest rate on mortgage. it will be a challenge but have worked for 94 years between us so feel it's time for a lifestyle change.

Quick question do you include the £135 credit to elec bill if out of work or the £25 cold weather payments? (Not been cold enough yet though)

Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi all :)
I'm combining this with the 52 weeks one (where you pay £1 in week one, £2 week 2, £5 week 5, £52 week 52 etc) but doing it monthly and backwards!
So month 1 £202, next payment of £186 will be end of Jan (2 payments for Jan using Xmas money!)

Works out at £1378 for the year.

I'm finding I don't have much time to do the surveys and when I do I get screened out so I'll see how it goes with those...

Listing stuff on eBay tomorrow, my tips get paid end of Jan, shall look into carboot sales when weather is better!
