Not sure if on the electoral roll

hi there
I would like to apply for a FTB mortage next year and am a bit unsure about my chances of getting one as I'm not sure if I was registered on the electoral roll at my previous address. I have been living in my present flat for almost 2 years and been on the ER the whole time but before that I was living in a flat as a lodger of the owner and I don't know if he added me to the ER (if he did he never asked or told me). Will this affect my chances of getting a mortgage if I wasn't ?
thanks for any info in advance

You can check whether you are on the electoral roll by getting your credit reference reports

Ring your previous council and speak to someone in the electoral department, they will tell you if you were registered.0 -
If you stick your postcode in the 'Your Local Area' widget on the Aboutmyvote website it will give you your council's contact details.

Thanks
I'm still in the same council area so I will give them a call on Monday but just to prepare myself if I find that I wasn't registered, how would this affect my chances of getting a mortgage? Would I have to wait another year till I have been at my current address for 3 years? I think I should have a good credit rating other than that (but you never know there may be something lurking that I just don't know about!)
thanks again0 -
It wont effect it. Did you vote 2 years ago?0

Yes I did. I thought you had to be on the electoral roll for 3 years? Have a 6-8 month gap (2 months just staying with a friend while I looked for suitable acccommodation and 6 months 'flatsharing'.)0

Not being visible on the electoral roll at all, would be an issue.
Don't think the electoral roll changes as you move from property to property. If you are on the electoral roll in October, you are on it for that year, until October the next year.
You could have six months in a property and be on the electoral roll at the property before and the property after, with no visible gap in your electoral roll listing.
Order your credit files, the £2 paper versions are fine and see what is visible. Do not sign up to online subscription services or "credit scores" as these are irrelevant.I am a mortgage broker.
