I want to buy this to place on my computer desk floor
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/83235110/
I need a tiny 60cm by 60cm (maybe 45 x 45) piece just to cover my feet.
I was wondering whether I could cut this and use the bits I need or whether it would start breaking off in the edges like carpet?
Note: on the page the trim/fold if necessary is probably referring to the underlay and not the rug itself.

It's just an actual sheepskin, so the backing is effectively leather. You can cut it and it won't fray, but take care when cutting to "part" the fleece where you cut rather than chop it off at the cut edge. Not explained that very well, but if you look at one close-up hopefully you'll see what I mean.0

hmm.. I don't think it's the actual skin, that would be from slaughtered animals. I think it's more likely to be from sheared sheep so it will be just be loose wool shaped back on.
Though it's odd that it's in the same shape is it would come off the animal which makes you think that it's wool on it's actual leather. (could just be for effect - ikea are good with that).0 -
ahhh sheepSKIN most likely to be wool on it's actual skin. So should be cutable.
I'm going to cut it to size. My cat will probably love the offcuts. I'll line a wooden box with it and make a cosy cave for him.0
