I am thinking of asking my GP for an NHS Well Man clinic appointment - are they worth the hassle or should I book (and pay for) a private one ?
I am 50 years old - with multiple health issues !!
But have never had a full health screening...

Would you qualify as a 'well man' anyway then?
How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Our GP surgery invites everyone over 40 to a similar thing.
At mine I was found to have slight hypertension which is now controlled with the smallest dose of drugs available, and also slightly high cholesterol which has since fallen dramatically due to small life style changes (more exercise, did the couch 2 5k program, and 5:2 diet).
Whether it is worth paying for private, I don't know, what else do they offer over and above what your GP surgery can do?0 -
I'm sure the emphasis of the NHS is switching toward this sort of preventive procedure. Best to ask at your practice what is available locally.0
