Loan in Maiden or Married Name

Hi All and Merry Crimbo,
Hubbie and I are looking to do some home improvements in the new year and need to take out a loan to cover it. We got married in November so I'm in the process of changing all my accounts to my new name. Would it be better to apply for the loan using my maiden name or married name? We're planning on taking the loan with the cheapest lender (Sainsbury's) and we don't have any accounts with them.
Thanks in advance,
Emma

I'm sure there will be others with advise but if I were in your situation, I would apply in the name your account is currently in - if this is now your married name, there is a section on the loan application that usually asks if you have been known by any other name in the last X years, so you would put your maiden name there. The search will then cover both names.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I've been married 40 years and still have accounts in my maiden name (even opened after wedding). You are likely to find it helpful to have an account in that name - not for this application but for the future.
As for applying for a loan, I would think about where I was registered to vote and what name is used there and what name my employer has recorded. I'd use that for the loan application.0 -
