Sainsburys Xmas Delivery - anyone else had problems?

Options
Well mine turned up tonight. Booked the slot as soon as it was available and had everything confirmed quite a few days ago.

How can they run out of potatoes and sprouts at christmas? ALL the fruit and bread (longer life, bake in the over) they delivered is out of date in 3 hours time.

Virtually everything else was either wrong, tatty looking and/or out of date the 25th or 26th.

I realise it's a first world problem and I can probably get out of work for a couple of hours tomorrow to try to buy the christmas dinner again .... but still, what an odd way to serve your long term customers.

Despite using them every week for a few years (not without issues) I think they've finally lost me.

Anyone done well?

I'd never take the chance with a delivery for a special occasion like Christmas. Especially since I saw how my local Sainsburys seems to complete the orders; I see the youngest and fairly clueless-looking staff members strolling round, chucking the stuff in the trolleys without properly looking at it - certainly not looking at the 'best before' date. Wouldn't want them doing MY shopping.

I was the in first group of people[6 of us] to be employed at Sainsburys just over 10 years ago to do grocery shopping.Interesting eh/?See how its grown since I made it work.
  • Did you ring the 0800 number? Whenever I've had a Sains delivery if there's been anything amiss they couldn't apologise enough and refunded plus once they sent a £10 gift card. Ring them!
:D Skint but happy with my lovely family :D

It sounds like a problem with your store. Mine turned up on time and everything was in stock. I have used them for two years and have had very few problems. It seems to be middle-aged ladies who do the home shopping in my local store so maybe that is why they seem to pick stuff that I would pick.

They also sent me a £7.50 voucher which I was able to use on my Christmas order.

OP the time your shopping was picked the best date for the bread and fruit happened to be dated 23rd (the staff are told to pick the best date but theres exceptions eg if the vans are due to go out then the shopper cant be digging for a better date) and potatoes and sprouts again may not have been OOS but a case of they hadn't been replenished on the shop floor. As I say it all depends if your shopping was picked first thing eg 7am or a little later eg 10am.
  • For once, Tesco got mine all right. Ordered for the 23rd just in case as I have previously had my fingers burned, ( missing items, no delivery due to snow etc,) but it all went fine.

I use Tesco and Sainsburys regularly and for big Xmas food shop, and have always been pleased with the service. This year was fine, two substitutions but they substituted for larger packs of items so in my favour. Give them a ring if you are not happy, they will usually send you a voucher.
