hi red  always upsetting when they go back to uni & you've been used to having them back home again (((hugs))) for you x
that's lovely treating your bro for his b/day :A
we'll have to put some happy b/day pics on for him
    tomorrow here :j
i'm no expert on birds but always think the window feeders are to near the windows for the birds to feel comfortable/safe if you know what I mean :o I've tried them before & not had a lot of success with them,
there's an interesting feature here about them & some of it explains that the birds can get alarmed by their own reflections etc in the windows,

at first the robin was very wary of me but with time & patience
they soon learn to trust you & will come near you :)
fingers crossed you get to win one or some of your
'would love' to win wishes :j specially the car, that would be great :j

Thanks fire**fly ,, big bros birthday was actually 18 december
But was mine 22/12 ds took me to see LK for mine on 19th wanted bro to be seperate as we stayed overnite,

so booked him for tomorrow instead, our b'days all too near Christmas so get lost in it....now is better for him :)

My bird bath is used daily, mainly by magpies, the blackbirds love the golden delicious apples I cut in half..they scoop out the flesh only leave a wee empty apple cup, they dont touch other apple varieties, robins love finely diced red apples with skin on, i have a feeding station, my neihbour up road hangs 4 assorted feeders on wall next to his window and gets everything under the sun, local council did a secret squirrel cull over a yr sgo, so we dont get any now :(

Need to buy a single lanyard for ds but none here, who will post out next day as he goes on monday?

We don't feed the birds except if the weather is really bad as we don't want them coming for food when we are away and there isn't anything for them. (official advice from RSPB I think) We must have braver birds here though as when the weather was bad last year we had Blackbirds coming to the kitchen window.

Thanks for Salad Cream link FF. Haven't had salad cream for ages apart from a strange flavoured one I won on FB.

Had an email saying my booking for Washington is fine so pleased about that. Will add something to it but no rush as it is for June. They had all our details as we had stayed there before so that was handy.

great the washington booking is ok sheils :j
yes, if you go away a lot it makes sense not to encourage the birds as they do tend to start to rely on regular feedings,
cheeky of the blackbirds coming to the window
I got the email for the salad cream but sid must have got his before me 'cause I searched before posting & found he'd done it for us :j:A saved me a job :D:rotfl:

well done on the win rosemac :j:j
we also have a sparrowhawk that comes regular & have seen her get a pigeon quite a few times, also seen her get a few of the little ones as well,
I come away from the window now when I know she's about as don't like seeing her get them,
I know it's nature & she has to feed herself & her chicks but
find it easier to turn away & wait till she's gone before going to watch them again :)

It's nice that the birds have learned to trust you fire**fly :) I love robins too, we done see many here only in the woods round the corner from us.

Sylvia, that's a great win with the tv and so pleased for you :) Mine is a 47" that I won a couple of yrs ago! Ours used to be the big back tv before that!

I won two bingo tickets on fb for free bingo :j Was on the phone to sis telling her and hubby pipes up....'are you taking me!' :o He hates bingo and whenever I ask him he doesn't want to go!
We went to B&Q today for kitchen design again but I didn't like their range or design! :o Another one who said I can't have my range cooker in! :( It's annoying when you finally have the money for something you want but then can't have it!

Well done on the bingo tickets wingo - hope they are lucky for you!
You must have a nice big kitchen to get a range in it. Hope you can get someone to get you what you want. We got a Howdens guy to come and design ours and a local joiner/plumber/electrician to do it.
    Love the dog videos!

No it's not really that big. We knocked through to dining room but still have a wall going around like a sort of archway (but square!) Because of where the window is and where it's plumbed in etc we are restricted with sizes! I love the range cookers but our kitchen is just awkward to fit in. Might go with an induction hob but have to buy new pans for it! Me & DH just can't agree on anything now! He has the opposite taste to me, I don't know how we married! :D Think I'll trade him on for a range cooker!
