It is just so terrible to see the pictures on the TV. Some of these houses are usually far away from the river.
Hope SueMaggie is OK - must go and find out.

Depends on how low down they are.
I think they should build houses near to potential flood areas on stilts

shiels they are on man made flood plains where houses should never be built but they have beeen and have been given mortgages etc also you have to go back to history and geology on these places and when it comes to dredging it should have been done years ago no matter what the government in power they need to listen to the farmers they will tell you what is going on within the land they farm where they have flooding they pick it up very fast

I am just glad the Government are willing to help out those who have been effected by the floods (though I'm not sure where this money is to come from!?) They said on the news that this terrible weather could last until May! Hard to believe all the rain after the heat wave last Summer! It will effect farming, transport.....the country will come to a halt!
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

The money will be coming from essential services- nhs, schools , transport etc - can't see the govt dippiing into the overseas aid pot (although they should resind all payments for flooding abroad)
Terrible weather won't last till may - it's terrible all year round in the UK :D
