Hi
I just wondered if anyone had made red onion chutney in the slow cooker?
I think I have all the ingredients-after Googling recipes, but can't find any made in the slow cooker.
Just having some bits & bobs for tea, and thought the chutney would go well on another day. Have jars, plenty of red onions, red wine vinegar, red wine, apples, and other bits.
Don't really want to go out tomorrow if I can help it, and thought I'd cook it overnight tonight, so I could clean the slow cooker and put my ham in it tomorrow - which I usually do on Xmas Eve.

Thanks will have a look now.
Just had a thought of bunging everything in the slow cooker, and not thinking about it until morning-being lazy!
Thank you & Merry Christmas:j0 -
The problem with using the slowcooker is that the liquid won't reduce down, so you'd have to pop it into a pan and boil it off. And if you're doing that, you might as well just do it on the hob from the start.0

Wish I had seen this before, I do mine in the slow cooker as it means I can walk away and not worry whist it reduces down.
I put it on high once it is up to heat I take the lid off, it takes longer than on the hob, but doesn't everything in a slow cooler
I do the last bit on the job as the temp needs to come up.
But as it takes so long to cook down this saves my sanity, I have had it catch one 2 many times so I like this method.0 -
Thank you, will try next time, I made 2 jars on the "job" before Xmas in the end!!!!!:rotfl:
Love anything that I don't have to stand over stirring for ages.
