    I think he has done that all by himself as even though the guarantor paid off the loan there would have been loads of late payment markers on his file.

    That may be your first problem. Are you sure you are even communicating with him (ie does he live at the address, or are you relying on phone/email?).

    If you have not done so, a good start might be to write him a letter, explaining that you have been more than reasonable about the matter but would like to know what his intentions are regarding the repayment of the loan and your related costs. Send it "signed for" and check with the RM if he has actually signed for it.

    If you cannot confirm a current address, then even if he has the means to pay you back, it will be difficult if you cannot serve the judgement on his current address.
    Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.
