Just been sent home without a job after 9 months. First that I heard of any problem was on Nov21. manager asked me to sign up for a work progress plan of one month. Letter arrived saturday telling me that I was to be called in for a disciplinary meeting, this morning went in to be told that I was unsatisfactory in the position...surely someone should have decided this at the end of my six months probation? Do I have any rights or come back? they are paying me four weeks in lieu of notice.

Probation is really 2 years now and they can let you go unfortunately for any reason that's not discrimination as you have not been with them 2 years.

Make sure you get all unused holiday pay too.

  • If they are paying you 4 works in lieu in notice then use that time to enjoy the Christmas period and then look for another job

Seems like they gave you a fair crack of the whip all in all. As has been said, enjoy the time off and start looking again in January.

Nothing you can do about it im afraid. You can learn from your mistakes (if you know what they were). Take time out to have a think at where you want to go now.
